See a map to the space. Thank you for your interest in using The Fidget Space! We're proud to a part of this arts community, and happy when artists of all kinds can utilize the space. Housed in a 19th century, 4700 square foot warehouse in Kensington, thefidget space opened its doors in June 2009 as a research laboratory and hub for new forms of art, media, and performance in Philadelphia. thefidget space is a project of <fidget>, a platform for the creative collaboration of co-directors Megan Bridge (dance) and Peter Price (time-based media). Through a presenting platform, an artist-in-residence program, and affordable rehearsal space for dance and theater groups, <fidget> and thefidget space work to promote experimental and interdisciplinary art making and discourse. With a focus on immediacy of audience experience (imagine lounging on a comfy couch, sipping on a glass of wine, and watching a performance unfold a few feet in front of you), we aim to challenge conceptual paradigms in the arts and humanities and deepen thinking about culture and the nature of human experience. maximum actualized human potential." -Steve Bulack, audience member The performance/rehearsal area at thefidget space consists of a 16' X 32' sprung, marley covered dance floor (no shoes on dance floor please) which is situated in a 1500 square foot room with 6 huge windows letting in natural light. There are plenty of couches, tables, and chairs for brainstorming and lounging. There is also a refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker for your use! We have a sound system with CD player and iPod hookup, as well as a DVD player and monitor. Our rehearsal rate is currently $9/hour. To schedule your rehearsal time please see below. You will get an email response within 24 hours of your request. If you are trying to book space less than 24 hours in advance, we'll do the best we can to accomodate you.
