Writing and music by: Peter Price

I have found over the years that in writing for dance, especially for improvisational work, it is particularly useful if the music unfolds with enough space for the co-evolution of the dance. In live improvisation of music and dance this need for ‘space’ in the music can be felt and negotiated between the musician and dancer, but if the music is to be fixed and only the dance improvisational, the composer needs to carefully balance the ratio of novelty to redundancy in the flow of musical information.

This score from 2019 is based on improvisational versions of Morphic Resonance from around that time, but edited into this structure in the studio. Megan has used it on tour now several times and it seems to be supporting her improvisations well for the moment. Also I enjoy the mix of analog and digital synthesis.
